Dent, a retired Oregon
State Police Senior Trooper, designed this simple course for instructors to
teach basic, entry level Survival
Spanish®
to emergency telecommunicator personnel.
This PowerPoint presentation encompasses techniques to control both common and
emergency life threatening calls that public safety telecommunicators encounter with Spanish speaking persons.
This training helps avoid tragic misunderstandings while saving lives.
Using learning
cognates, mnemonics and “Dynamic Memory Linking©”
this
"easy
to teach” patented method is a practical way for
learning, retaining and recalling commonly used Spanish words and phrases. The
Survival Spanish®
training method, addresses the relationship between sensory perception, the
brain, “memory keys” and the rate of practice.
(Typically, this course can
be used as a 1
or 2-day stand-alone training
program or can be used in conjunction with more in depth language courses.)

Testimonial:
The Survival Spanish manual, audio tapes and other learning materials have been
incredibly helpful. I am able to utilize it during emergency calls, and can
perform basic translations to the officers on the street over the radio, cell
phone, or phonetically on the MDT.
I will be purchasing
your multi-lingual manual as it will be even more
more helpful. To be able to phonetically write and/or read the language is
a lifesaver! Thank you for this invaluable tool! As a emergency
telecommunicator, I want all of the knowledge and tools I can find to keep my troops
safe!
